Keller is one of the largest geotechnical construction companies in Canada, offering competitive wages and opportunities for growth. We are actively searching for a Red Seal Crane Operator in Winnipeg, MB. Crane operators must be willing and able to travel to construction sites around Manitoba.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the functions required utilizing friction/mechanical and hydraulic cranes with/without a third line.
  • Read and understand the operator's manual for the crane being operated.
  • Read and understand the crane load chart.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) when on jobsite at all times.
  • Adhere to and help enforce all safety requirements, especially those related to the crane and all attached equipment to include the power unit and related drilling equipment.
  • Understand and use the standard hand signals for the operation of a crane.
  • Move crane only with the assistance of specified crane ground guides. Under no circumstances will a company-owned and/or rented crane be moved without an approved ground guide.
  • Inspect crane and related equipment for operational and safety factors, noting/correcting and notifying the Jobsite Supervisor of any problems or deficiencies.
  • Clean and lubricate crane (to include greasing undercarriage and ALL grease points, adding all engine fluids and power unit fluids) daily as per crane operator's manual and specifications.
  • Immediately report any equipment damage or deficiencies to the Jobsite Supervisor.
  • Assist with crane-related activities, such as rebar cage placement in piles.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Training and previous field experience required.
  • Red Seal endorsement required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
