We are currently seeking a Mechanic to join our team in Vancouver, BC.

Responsibilities

The Mechanic will perform preventative and predictive maintenance and repairs to vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment in order to ensure that the vehicles and equipment are available, reliable and safe to operate.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test equipment components, diagnose faults and malfunctions, repair and replace mechanical units, test and adjust equipment to specifications and manufacture’s standards
  • Travel to various job sites to service vehicles/equipment and coach employees on efficient operation and maintenance to prevent issues and ensure optimal performance of vehicles and equipment
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  • Advise the Shop Manager of required major repairs or replacements to mobile and stationary equipment
  • Provide input and recommendations to Shop Manager regarding mechanical information for equipment and vehicle purchases
  • Research information and follow up with manufacturers to keep apprised of current practices and techniques, prevent recurring performance issues, increase reliability and efficiency of vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Coach and instruct apprentice Service Technician involved in maintenance tasks
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • HET Trade Certification;
  • Courses in heavy equipment, diesel, gas and hydraulics;
  • Valid BC non-probationary driver's license;
  • 5 years related experience including heavy equipment and hydraulics.
  • Possess an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

  • Sound mechanical knowledge;
  • Able to operate drilling equipment, hands on experience with pneumatic and electrical work;
  • Able to operate required tools in a safe and responsible manner;
  • Technically inclined with proven ability to troubleshoot and repair vehicle/equipment operation problems using computerized and traditional diagnostic methods;
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance;
  • Knowledge and commitment to workplace safety requirements and procedures;
  • Energetic, self-directed, and able to handle multiple projects and tasks at any given time;
  • Good planning, coordinating and organizational skills;
  • Personable and professional with strong customer service skills;
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects (up to 70lbs)
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity

 Compensation: $53.06/ hour
