We provide customized and innovative monitoring solutions and have all the resources required to complete the various phases of instrument installation and commissioning throughout construction. Our worldwide operations deliver projects in multiple sectors, including mining, civil engineering, energy and the environment. Our head office is located in Sainte-Julie, Québec.

 

We are seeking an energetic person for the role of Business Development Manager to be based at our Mississauga, ON office.

Responsibilities

Business Development and Sales - 70%

  • Ensure a continuous vigil of the geotechnical and structural industry, particularly in a specific region, and share the information to the market directors, strategic director, management and the sales team:
    • Propose, develop and implement action plans from the business strategies plan communicated by the management;
    • Foster business partnerships, distribution agreements with suppliers and subcontractors in our industry.
  • Promote and ensure the follow-up of products and services to existing and potential clients:
    • Make presentations to clients and prospect clients;
    • Attend technical exhibitions and conferences.
  • Implement and monitor sales and business development actions plans (metrics and KPI’s of their action plan).
  • Publish articles, technical papers at conferences, seminars and newsletters identified in the annual strategic roadmap:
    • Write project summaries for the website;
    • Present technical and corporate presentations at conferences and seminars.
  • Bring creativity and concrete initiatives to increase the company visibility and notoriety.
  • Analyze the technical needs in instrumentation and monitoring on tender bids and client inquiries:
    • Identify and report to the management the contractual clauses and terms of extraordinary sales requested;
    • Develop and present tele-surveillance solutions.
  • Collaborate and follow-up on sales processes with the sales team:
    • Participate in estimating costs and sales prices based on profit margins agreed with the management;
    • Write and verify bids, proposals, quotations and service offers made by the sales team;
    • Negotiate purchase volume discounts with key partners.

Project Manager / Engineering - 15%

  • Collaborate in the design and preparation of instrumentation and monitoring plans (GIMP) with the engineering team;
    • choose the right sensor and data logger technology for each project.
  • Follow up on the progress of projects:
    • facilitate communication and follow-up of activities’ execution with the client and the technical team;
    • monitor, document and update project budgets, manage changes and modifications;
    • ensure approval activities with clients;
    • provide the necessary client documentation for production and execution (design, drafting and validation of monitoring plans and measurement programs);
    • monitor project deliverables (material, service);
    • write progress and post-mortem reports;
    • maintain a confidence (climate of trust) with the client ;
    • monitor post-sales activities such as technical support and service and maintenance requests.

Administration - 15%

  • Participate in analyzing the performance of the projects (P&L):
    • Make the necessary adjustments to maintain the required profit margins for the company.
  • Ensure a vigil on market prices:
    • Report to the superiors any price discrepancies concerning the competition in order to remain competitive.
  • Organize follow-ups, including confirmation of supplier and client orders and deliveries:
    • Conduct purchases and invoicing;
    • Ensure a follow-up on each file;
    • Ensure control of the sales profit margin in terms of purchases, production costs and execution on site.
  • Complete and keep up to date company records, including opportunities, quotes, orders and client information in the CRM ERP.
  • Assist the accounts payable and receivable department:
    • Ensure follow-up on overdue accounts receivable;
    • Submit account opening forms to new client;
    • Submit and enforce terms and conditions with clients

Qualifications

Required education:

  • Bachelor degree in civil, construction, mining and mineral or geological engineering

Required knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Specific knowledge in the field of geotechnical and structural instrumentation
  • General knowledge of the various sectors of the company as well as its products and services
  • General knowledge of markets and applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Great ease with IT (ERP, CRM and accounting software)

Other requirements:

  • High mobility (valid passport and driver's license)
  • Legally able to travail unrestricted within North America
  • Availability to travel, 30 to 50% is expected
